Provider type: Therapist
Serving: Adults, Seniors
I have been a practicing therapist for over forty years, receiving a Bachelor's of Science and a Master's in Counseling from Rollins College, and an Ed.D with a specialty in Early and Middle Childhood Development from Nova University. Initially my practice was focused on children, adolescents and families, particularly in the areas of Sexual Abuse, Eating Disorders and ADHD. Over the years I have transitioned to a practice that now serves adults and families, specializing in depression, anxiety, marital issues, and mood disorders.
I work hard at creating a supportive, nurturing and safe environment which is goal-directed and interactional between both therapist and patient. This also may include an inter-disciplinary team approach with other medical and mental health providers.
I am always attempting to gently encourage patient's to move forward to meet THEIR stated goals, using support, empathy and never, never blame. I attempt to give my patients tools to live well in the present and tools and hope for learning to live a future, happy life.
My theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and I particularly focus on what I describe as my patient's "self-bullying." By that I mean their own internal negative self talk which is then directly responsible for creating their feelings and behavioral choices.
Often my patient's comment and compliment me on my obvious care and concern for each of them personally, and my quick responsiveness to them when needed.
